Airport to downtown Edinburgh
is 6 miles. If driving, take A8 right into town.
However, it is only 20 minutes via the A720 City Bypass
direct to Inveresk House.
If you are in
Edinburgh, it
is 6 miles to Musselburgh (Bus 26 or 44). If
driving, follow
A199 to Musselburgh. If you took the A720 City
Bypass, you are already at Inveresk House!

- If you take the A720
(City Bypass) from Edinburgh Airport or
join this road at other points, you must
exit at the very east end of the A720
where it intersects with the A1.
Look for a sign marked Old
Craighall. You will soon see the
information centre at Esso Petrol Station
on the left.
- After less than ½
mile the road intersects with B6415 North
(Old Craighall Road). Turn right and
follow signs for about 1 mile to
Musselburgh. You will come to a T junction
with a traffic light. Turn right and carry
on past Tesco Supermarket (A199) .
As you enter Musselburgh High Street you
will see The Caprice Restaurant on the
right. We are about 1½
miles from this point.
- Travel about ½
mile along High Street through the town
centre and turn right at a traffic light
at Newbigging (on corner is The
Sportsman’s Bar and a round building used
as a cafe). Look for the signs that
say “Inveresk 1 Mile and Carberry 2
Miles.”
- Drive along Newbigging
Street until the next intersection which
is a T Junction with a traffic light.
- Take a right turn and
then immediately a left turn on the
continuation of Newbigging Street
(Horseshoe Tavern is on this second
corner).
- Drive along Newbigging.
Fire Station on left and Sports
Centre on right. The name of the road
changes name to Inveresk Brae (Hill) as
you approach Inveresk Village and the road
is bordered by two high stone walls.
- Our stone wall is on
your right as you go up the Brae.
(You will be driving in a right handed
spiral to get into our grounds from this
point.) At the top of the hill there
is a blind curve where you turn a sharp
right on to a short road with St Michael’s
Kirk at the end. Watch for the signs
“River Esk Walkway” and “St. Michael’s
Kirk and Cemetery”.
- Drive along this
Inveresk Village road only about 200 feet
(70 meters).
- Our entrance is the
second on the right. There
is a number 3 on the stone pillar to the
left. Just opposite on the other side of
the road are big iron gates with the white
letters GM on them standing for Grannus
Mews.
- Come into driveway and
go past Holly Cottage on your left and
garages on your right. You will see a sign
for Inveresk House as you approach.
- Follow driveway which is
bordered by a hedge around to the right
and park at the front of Inveresk House.

If you have gone to the church, you have
missed our turning. If you turned left in
error at the top of the Brae, you must turn
around to come back. We are NOT Inveresk
Lodge, The Manor House or St.
Michael's. Our house is not
visible from the road so these instructions
are necessary to allow you to arrive without
getting lost. GPS can get you close, but not
to the house exactly.
